Harvey was blessed October 30, 2011 at church. It was wonderful. I'm so grateful for my husband who blessed our little boy. It was a day I have dreamed of for a long while.

The County Fair is finally here! After about a year of Ella and Owen asking me when the fair is coming, I finally was able to tell them..ITS HERE! Our whole family seriously looks forward to this weekend, and we were able to welcome Harvey for his first time at the fair. (notice the hand sanitizer on the side of the stroller, we (not Harvey) used that after every ride)

I held Harvey most of the time so our pictures do not give full justice to all the fun that went on. I heard a few times from Ella and Owen that this was the best day of their lives.

This year Owen was tall enough to handle a couple of rides without us. Him and Ella really took very good care of each other. Ella made sure his seat belt was on tight and he stayed by here side while going thru the mazes and mirrors.

Their excitement is truly my joy of the whole fair weekend but the kettle corn/ cotton candy does add to it as well.

On another note...

Harvey smiles a lot, especially when he sees and hears his family. My heart melts when he showers me with those smiles. Ahh just look at that handsome baby.

First Day of School

The next big thing that happened these last couple of months is that both kids started school! Owen started his first day of preschool and Ella started her first day of KINDERGARTEN!!! Wow, how time flies! Owen had no problem with going to preschool and was so excited and ready. Ella was also really excited about school. She said she officially feels like a kindergartner. Her teacher is super sweet and we are so glad everything has worked out so well. For the first couple of weeks Owen (backpack in tow) walked with us to take Ella to her class in the morning. It was so cute.

Miss Billie's Preschool is fantastic, she is amazing and truly loves these kids.

I have to admit I had been scared of this day,(I would tear up just thinking about her being away). I was very sad/happy to see this next chapter start. Something about when kindergarten begins its on for the next 13 years! I held my sadness back until we were back in the car and I just flooded the front seat with tears! Jered was shocked and a little worried. He made it better by telling me everything is going to be okay and she will be just fine. I know everything will I just miss her and want to be by her side. It was an odd feeling leaving her knowing I wasn't going to be around. I didn't have the same reaction to Owen because Preschool is just two days a week and its more like play time and a itty bitty break for mom. I was also anxious about getting kids to school with a three week old! But we have managed fairly well considering and life is just pretty good. I love my kiddos and so proud of them.

I went all natural, no drugs again... I made it and even smiling!

Ella, the first time she saw Harvey she started crying and said that this day feels like a dream come true. We love you Ella and Owen!

Everything went so very well, I couldn't of had a better experience. My doctor is amazing and the nurse staff was so kind. Jered kept me calm and always by my side. He slept in the hospital room in a very uncomfortable fold out chair (he has done this with all our babies)I love him so much. We are so blessed that Harvey is healthy and happy. Ella and Owen really have adjusted so well to having a baby brother, they love him so much. Jered is a big part of that because he is able to comfort and take care of them when I'm not able to. The kids can't stop giving him kisses and Owen can't wait to play cars with him, he already has been showing him his collection. I'm so proud of them. I have so much love and support from my parents and Jered's. I love them so much and so very thankful. I also have some amazing friends who fixed meals for almost TWO weeks! I am so spoiled! We love this little guy and can't imagine him never being with us.

Our little family is growing and I have to say it is very wonderful! I have stopped everything and been enjoying this time (notice the lack in blogging) with Harvey and my family. Time flies by so fast I want to enjoy every second.

I can't believe he is already three! Owen really wanted a party with friends and a Speed McQueen Pinata. So naturally we threw a party with a speed McQueen Pinata. First though, I made chocolate chip buttermilk pancakes with bacon on the side for breakfast. They are really yummy! Owen even slept in for his birthday which is not very often...he is an early morning bird.

Jered had a good idea to buy every kid a happy meal, so that covered food and a treat. Smart hubby!

Jered's sister, Susan bought Ella Twinkle toes for her birthday and ever since Owen has been fascinated by them, so she bought him a pair. It was so cute because he put them on right away and started jumping (thinking that the shoes made him jump higher) it's super cute and he wears them all the time.

Happy Birthday Owen, we love you and think the world of you. You are a joy to watch grow and very proud and blessed.

I have a nice little camera that Jered bought me last year. This camera is really handy to carry around instead of my Nikon but I have been horrible about downloading pictures and posting from it. So instead of brushing these memories aside I thought I would post the good ones that I downloaded...so here it goes....

In this picture Owen decided to play artist with him being the paper right before a big group of girlfriends were coming over for brunch. He was very disappointed that I had to hose him down.

In April we traveled to Las Vegas to attend Susan and Shaun's wedding. Susan is Jered's little sister. It was a beautiful wedding and we are so happy for them. She makes one beautiful bride.

I have to admit that the third pregnancy goes by way faster then the first two!!!! I wanted to take monthly pictures of this pregnancy but have failed miserably. My Parents Visit

A couple of weeks ago my parents came to visit. Yeah!!! It was so much fun having them here and hard to see them go. My parents were suppose to drive up for Ella's birthday but my mom ended up with the flu. So she brought all the party stuff with them and we just had another fun party. I love that my dad was jumping on the trampoline with the kids, at one point both my parents were on the trampoline jumping.

My parents bought a pinata for Ella, we still have leftover candy!

I love having my parents come and visit and wish they could come more often but just appreciate them when they do make it our way. They are wonderful.

My Little Ella turns FIVE!!!

If our computer hadn't broken I would of posted this earlier but she turned five Feburary 25th! I'm so glad to have Internet and computer at hand.

Ella had a wonderful birthday. She picked the theme, "My littlest Pet Shop," she also wanted a puppy pinata. One of the neat traditions we started for birthday's is that Jered takes the birthday kid out to lunch. Ella was really sweet and wanted her little brother to join. They decided on McDonald's and played in the fun Ronald Play Gym. Afterwards Jered took them to Wal-mart to pick up her cake and select her flavor of ice cream, he even let both of them pick out a toy. He is such a caring and fun dad, we are really lucky to have him. At the party there were several of her closest friends to celebrate including Jered's parents and a couple of my closest friends. My parents were suppose to join us but my mom came down with the flu. It was sad they weren't there but made up for it by coming down a couple of weeks later and brought another pinata!(Pictures coming soon)

Great News!!!

We're having our third baby! I'm due July 24th. We are really excited. I'm really not showing much but I wanted to take a picture month by month, even though you can't tell and I'm almost four months along. I can't believe how fast everything is passing by. This pregnancy is just going by. I haven't even had time to post about the progress. I'm exactly 15 weeks and I had one month of sickness at 10 weeks but that's it. I didn't have any sickness with the first two so I consider myself lucky. I heard the heart beat last week and it sounded so cute and fast.

Ella is ecstatic! She talks about the baby all the time, she thinks its a girl and wants to name it Tinkerbell, Elizabeth, Lizzy, or Chloe. The other day she fed me a grape and asked how big the baby is, I said about the size of an apple, so she gave me more grapes to eat and then asked how big the baby is, so cute. Her prayer last night was so sweet. She asked Heavenly Father for the baby to be healthy and happy and that the baby will grow faster and faster. I love my family and can't wait to met this new little one.

We had a wonderful Christmas. We spent Christmas at home, and celebrated it with Jered's parents. My sister in-law, Susan, came for a five day visit as well. It was so great spending time with her. We ate great food, went Geo caching, made a ginger bread house, watched the kids open tons of presents, and I actually made a successful and so delicious batch of cinnamon rolls, (thanks Sasha for the recipe!)

A tradition has started

General Conference was this weekend. I look forward to this weekend that happens once every six months. There is something amazing, spiritually satisfying, and time stopping about this special weekend. Hearing the modern day prophet, Thomas S. Monson speak always lights my spirit even more. His talk on gratitude was just what I was craving. It is truly difficult to find an attitude of gratefulness in a time where wants are granted so easy and fast, everywhere you look society is telling you what you need, how to live, what to look like and be like, that we often forget about the things we have. I strive to be more gracious and not let the instant gratifying material worth, fast pace life style get in the way and appreciate the simple things that truly make up my happiness.

I could go on and on..... this weekend just went so well. I started a tradition two years ago for General Conference with my family... I gather fun projects for the kids to enjoy while we watch conference together, I also make food that we don't often have, like ice cream! I made a big batch of chili that fed us the whole weekend with yummy honey cornbread, chips and salsa. The kids did so well and we had a wonderful time listening together as a family.

My blogger friend Jessica has a cute recipe blog with tons of good recipes, I haven't tried one I didn't like! So if you are looking for something new..check it out.

I absolutely love this recipe, I have tried a few chicken salads and this is by far my favorite...I used rotisserie chicken instead of boiled chicken.

4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves

1/4 cup light mayo

1/4 cup low-fat buttermilk

1 TB Dijon mustard

1 TB fresh lemon juice

1/2 to 1 tsp hot sauce

2 celery stalks, finely chopped

1/2 small red onion, finely chopped

1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

1. Bring 1 inch salted water to a boil in a large skillet with a tight-fitting lid. Add chicken, cover and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer 5 minutes. Off heat, let chicken (still covered) steam until cooked through, 12 to 14 minutes. Remove from skillet; when cool enough, cut into chunks or shred with two forks.

2. In a medium bowl, stir together mayo, buttermilk, mustard, lemon juice, and hot sauce. Stir in chicken, celery, onion, and parsley; season with salt and pepper. Serves 6

Figures...when I just posted about it being constantly sunny here it rains all day long! I loved it! The kids loved it! We played outside for almost an hour. They finally were able to try out their umbrellas. Afterwards I fixed hot grilled cheese sandwiches and spicy tomato soup... it was yum. If I could bake I would of made an apple pie to welcome the Fall...maybe another day.

During bedtime I read Ella and Owen this book that we rented from the library. When reading this book (its a great book by the way) Ella said she wish it would snow here. I looked at her and nodded as well.

Whenever the seasons start to change or suppose to change I get a little sad, feel like I'm missing something special. I live in the desert but grew up in the pines with beautiful four seasons. The seasons do change here but very subtle. The difference....instead of 110 degrees its 98 degrees. The cotton fields will soon be white, which makes me miss snow even more.

I'm saddened that my children won't experience the early morning wakings of school being cancelled and playing in the snow until your toes felt like they were frozen. The smell of snow, the dead silence, and the snowflakes falling on your face, landing on your tongue. The fresh taste of snow, and excitement of building a new friend with a carrot nose. The feeling of coming inside with a fire that was built for warmth instead of being for decor, and the taste of hot chocolate with white marshmallow's melting as you sip even more.

I miss my wardrobe being filled with heavy coats, hats, scarfs and mittens....a light weight jacket will do in the desert during the day maybe a heavier one at night.

There is always a little hope that someday I will live where four seasons will surely show. Until then the constant sunny days will bring bright times for sure.

P.S. Mom, I will just have to visit your home more often :)

Something amazing and special happened to my family. We were sealed in the Gila Valley Temple May 28th. I couldn't believe how much peace I felt and still feel since that day, I wasn't expecting any of the feelings I had experienced or even the overwhelming feelings of happiness, I feel so blessed. The Temple is a beautiful place and I am grateful for Heavenly Father leading me there.

My friend Julie and her family came to the sealing and took photos of my family afterwards. She is an incredible photographer, very talented and we are so happy she did that for us.

I love you Jered... I'm looking forward to spending eternity with you

Craft....

We made a craft today, Princess and Prince crowns. It was all Ella's idea. I love watching them create things... they get so into it.

This evening while we were driving into town we had a conversation with Ella...it went like this..

Husband- Ella you are growing up way to fast.

Ella-I know but dad I need to so I can have babies of my own.

Husband-But that's not for a very long time.

Ella- I know, and I'm going to need a baby diaper changing maching to change all my babies diapers.

Husband. REALLY, how many babies are you going to have?

Ella- TEN! (She show us with her fingers as well)

Ella-And you and mom are going to come over and help take care of them.

Kittens

We have kittens. Four to be exact. They are so cute. The mama cat is such a good mom. She waits for her kittens to sleep before she goes outside to explore. She also doesn't go far and if I call to her she runs inside to watch her babies and makes sure everything is sound. Reminds me of me when my little ones starts to cry.

Well let me tell you how dinner turned out...

My husband who is starving devours it.
Almost two year old son....whaling in is chair like a mad man, repeatedly saying, "ewww, not good, ewww, not good"

My four year old daughter...under the chair crying, "not again... I hate asparagus!!! Please no!!!"

Me..wishing I had one of those fancy remotes from the Upside Downside show and fast forward this part... maybe the remote could make them eat and confess how wonderful dinner was.

After dinner...
husband says how great it was, different but great. Five minutes later he excitedly announces we are heading into town for ice cream... ONLY if our daughter takes two bites of her dinner. She does.....one skinny slice of chicken and a tiny little pea..............we happily leave our home for DOUBLE scooped ice cream. Someday they will thank me for feeding them vegetables. For now Spring-vegetable couscous with chicken has been officially retired...tomorrows dinner...vegetable soup! Hee Hee

Our little princess became a real princess for a day, Ella has been appointed Little Miss .... County and she made her first appearance at the Cinco De Mayo parade. Sick, sick..and sick!!!!

Well I'm completely fed up with being sick! This is my family's fourth round of strep. Last weekend Ella had a fever, sore throat and her eyes were red and mucus. Took her to the doc, she came out negative for strep but her brother was positive....he only had a bad cough. The doctor prescribed another dose of antibiotics and three days later I come down with the same symptoms, except my ears are full and hurt, throat hurt so bad I could barely swallow. So I call the doctor to find that it’s viral and it’s been going around town. So strep and viral......great combo right? Anyway with all this complaining I am just so blessed to have my husband that took such good care of me and the kids. For the last two days I had a temp and didn't feel like doing much but sleeping, he took care of dinner, took the kids with him so I could rest.....he even straightened up the house, made the kids put their toys away...all while I was sleeping.

It was so much fun to have my sis and parents come and visit, they don't get to come very often so I cherish the times they do. When I was a little girl I enjoyed pretend cooking for them and this trip I enjoyed real cooking for them (I fixed a family recipe of chicken fried steak). We went shopping, played the wii and just hung out. Thanks for coming!!!

A Fall Outing in the Forrest

I'm from the tall pines and greatly miss the seasons. So I packed up the kids and went to our mountain that is luckily just an hour away. We stopped and hiked around an old orchard with beautiful views of our city, we also collected leaves and pine cones. Ella says that we are taking the forrest with us. The trees have already changed with yellows, oranges, and beautiful reds. There was also the cold crisp air and the smell of fallen leaves. Oh how I love fall in the mountains.

Yes I know, I have the coolest mom!!! She mailed me a box filled with the funnest and scariest candy, also hilarious Halloween t-shirts for the kids and I. Thanks mom for thinking of us and bringing so much fun to the holidays. Some of the candy included were edible spiders, scary pez dispensers, edible scary creepy hands, and chocolate skulls, my favorite. These are lollipops on one side and mouth pieces on the other... sooo fun and soooo cute!!!!

After I put Owen down for a nap, Ella was now where in sight. I looked around and found her in the bathroom. She had a very guilty look on her face.... It didn't take long to figure out what she had done (hence the hair on the counter that is missing on Ella's HEAD!!!

Super Hero ELLA!

I had some bold pink fabric left over and Ella has been acting like a super hero...as well as... (robot, princess, puppy, kitty, baby, Wendy from Peter Pan,... ) and it just donged on me that she doesn't have a cape, well I sewed (very poor job) a cape for her. I started noticing the imperfections on her cape...strings hanging down, wrinkled, stitching.... anyway... not Ella, she took that cape told me I am the "BEST" and gave me a big hug. She played with that cape all afternoon. I often feel like it has to be perfect or well done to call it good or to go through with it, that I notice I miss those special moments like that. I try to have the house chores done, the house picked up and then I can play with my kids.... well lets face it... that will absolutely never happen and if it does I either have help, the kids are out of the house or I'm insane and haven't slept. So today I stopped.. yes, with the house a mess and dishes piled high... and enjoyed chasing Ella around the room with her bold pink cape on. ( I was Bolt from the movie and she was Katie, I think that is the girls name). So much fun..... we also sat down and watched a princess movie while we colored in her princess book. It's not everyday my baby boy sleeps 3 hours or else he would be involved in this organza (eating the crayons...laughing hysterically while we chased each other). I'm not saying I'm going to let the house turn inside out... it would if I left it alone for a few days... but with all the hustling around trying to get this and that done...(I don't have to have it straight and totally clean to have a good time) I am and will make more of an effort to actually play with my rapidly growing children. Besides that is one of the big incentives for being a Home Manager! YEEE HAAA!

I started going to the farmers market (7:30 Tuesdays-Saturdays at Chamber of Commerce)to get my produce, I recently read that the produce we buy from the store travels an average of 1500 miles! My baby boy turned ONE June 13! We played hookie and took a mini vacation to Phoenix to celebrate his birthday. It was a lot of fun and took some of the blues out of me because my little baby is turning into a toddler!!! We went swimming, blew out the candle on the cake, took Ella and Owen to Toys R' Us to pick out a their presents, ate at Red Lobster and had them sing to Owen, and last but not least played together and laughed together.. had a blast together. I have been really excited about you walking.... you are one stout baby boy and tugging you around has been especially hard on my back...... you are the cutest! The other day you were eager to walk but we were returning videos back and our car was parked far away. HURRAY FOR ELLA!!!! She trained herself to go to the potty!!! For the last year I have felt pressure to train her but when I would listen to mothers and of course my mom, they would tell me that when they are ready they will do it on their own. I don't know about all kids and I am sure everyone is different but for Ella, waiting until she is ready really worked!!! I had bought the cute panties and the array of toilet merchandise a year ago so I have been prepared. When I would get impatient I would try with her and she would be totally be turned off to the idea of it. So just yesterday I had her panties on the floor and I commented on how comfortable and pretty they are, they look just like mommies! Ella then wanted to wear them and I warned her that she couldn't go potty in her panties because they will mess them up. She went to the potty just fine, only one accident and that is because we were watching the Little Mermaid and couldn't get there in time. It has been so easy!!! She tells me when she needs to go and waaaa laaa there you have it. So Ella I am so proud of you!!!!!!!!

started a new way of scrapbooking!!! Its easy, its fast, and I loovveee it. I would spend to much time trying to make my pages cute, waste of time! Now I snap a few pictures throughout the day, print it out, and write about it. Its nothing pretty but I am marking my days and when I look back at my everyday life I will realize how special everyday is and enjoying it to the fullest.

Baby boy you turned 7 months January 13 and I am now just blogging about it. Family has been sick for about a week and honestly I can't remember what I did before that because that is just to far back....... anyway you are crawling very well I must say, you do the spider crawl where your knees never touch the ground and you move very fast. I believe your first word is Ma Ma, (You are a mama's boy) no really, you crawl after me and say ma ma. You are so lovable and sweet!!!! I can't get enough kisses!!!! You are also starting to pull up on things, it might just be that you start walking before your first birthday. I have to say that you better because you are now a whopping 20 lbs, in size 4 diaper and I don't know how much longer I am able to carry you.... I have had my back out twice already. Anyway.... Owen I am so glad to be your ma ma and looking forward to your next month and the handfuls of milestones to come.

P.S. Your sister thinks you hung the moon. If you nap to long she is waiting beside you and asking me to wake you up. She told me yesterday that she is glad to have a baby brother and that you are sooo cute!!! When she does take a toy away from you she always replaces it with another. She put pretend makeup on you and her princess crown and said you looked gorgeous. Honestly she is just totally awwwhhhed over you as well as everyone else.

I would rate this one a four out of five and the reason being is I think I might have cooked it to long because it was a little dry, next time I will take it out of the oven five or so minutes early..... other then that is was greeeaaattt!!!!....and easy!!!!!!!!!

3 tb oil

1 large onion, diced

2 refrigerated, unbaked pie crusts

3/4 lb. smoked ham (i used bacon)

1 (10 oz package of frozen spinach, thawed and drained

1 1/2 cups of grated parmesan

1 cup ricotta cheese

4 eggs, plus 1 yold, slightly beaten

1/4 tps pepper

1 egg white beaten

cook bacon and onion
Mix ingredients together

Put in oven at 425 for 40 minutes

For one of my New Years resolution I wanted to commit to consistently putting together a family album. Every month I select a few pictures and place them in the album. Pictures mean a lot to me and remembering back when I was a little, time after time, I would look at my family album(my mom is good about keeping an album) and being so happy and it brought back so many good memories. Even as a kid I would go through my mind if my house were to burn down what belongings would I get and I would get the photo albums (that is if all family members were out of the house, of course!) Sooo... to the point I was looking at old pictures and came across what my family was up to and here it is....

Our Four Christmas's

I always thought you had to have one big Christmas but I have changed that mind frame and now I feel the more the merrier! Christmas is about spending time with loved ones and that is just what we did.
First, our Christmas with Jered's parents Paula and Raymond (aka MeeMa & PaPa)

It went like this.... Paula and I made tortillas while Jered and Raymond cooked the steaks we put it together for fajitas. Delicious. Then we sat down, chatted and of course opened gifts.

Next....... Our family Christmas and Owen's first Christmas! Every year seems to get better with kids and there was such a special feeling that day having Jered, Ella, and Owen. Our family is growing and there is even more love going around with our newest edition.

Then we traveled to Ruidoso, New Mexico, where I was born and raised. It is such a beautiful place and makes it hard to live anywhere else. Like always it was wonderful to see my parents,it even snowed and my mom, Ella, and I had a blast playing in the snow. We even had a snowball fight, my mom is one tough cookie too! I will always remember it and Ella keeps talking about it. One of the nights we were there we ate at the End of the Mountain Gods at the buffet and it is a fancy buffet. We also saw the biggest Christmas tree in New Mexico, it was over two stories high, sooo beautiful. It felt like a much needed vacation. I was able to sleep in and take a nap here and there because my parents watched the kids. It felt like I slept a lot because I was drugged on benedrill, I am allergic to dogs and everywhere we went there seemed to be dogs, it even turned into bad asthma. It is the worst feeling when you can't catch your breath. So if anybody knows of some good medicine or voodoo trick that is safe while breastfeeding and doesn't knock you out, let me know!!!!

Last but not least we made our way to Lubbock Texas. We visited my Grandmother and her husband Nat and finally got to see my sister for Christmas, YEAH! We also saw my uncle and aunt as well as my cousins, it was so great to get to see everyone. We had a wonderful Christmas lunch/dinner and played games, well I was mostly out cold from the benedrill but my family had fun playing. My cousin Ashley also just got engaged so hopefully we will be traveling that way soon.

So for all my family and friends, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy 2009!!!!

My baby boy is already half a year old!!!! He is such a cutie, a big bundle of love. I just can't get enough hugs and kisses from him. He already has such a wonderful personality. Owen is just about ready to crawl, he actually is crawling, as slow as a turtle but give it couple more days and he will be crawling circles around Ella. Poor, poor Ella, she doesn't know what is coming! Maybe there will finally be someone that can wear her out, probably not, but it was a thought. I just love my family!

"Just" a stay at home mom

So I'm having a blue day. Lets see here, started with a conversation.... going something like this... The wife works and makes more then the husband, they probably make around 300 grand combined, they get to have everything, they get to have it all. Another conversation earlier.... So Lani your going to work after your kids get in school, what else would you do? (Meaning since the only thing I do is babysit and when the babies are gone what in the world could I possibly do with myself?) Or this comment, "My mother worked and did the household stuff and never complained." (Meaning since I don't have a job I especially don't need to complain about tough times I have). Another conversation weeks ago, Wow you have a bachelors, why aren't you working? (Meaning that women who don't have degrees stay at home and the women that do, need to be spending their time working.) These comments might have different meanings but I took them this way and since I am having a blue day I can't seem to get anything positive out of them.

Ever since I can remember I dreamed of being a mom, taking care of my dolls, pretend cooking with my kitchen set, all that good stuff. When people would ask me what do you want to be when you grow up, of course I said this and that but truly wanted to be a mom but people don't say that stuff. I guess I am feeling a little (little). Why isn't that what I am doing gets the recognition of having a job in society or respect it deserves? My mom stayed at home and there was never a day where she wasn't there, she would start fixing dinner two hours before dinner, my clothes always clean and ironed, most of all I knew her main priority was me and my sister and that felt good. I know there are mom's out there that have to work and if I had tons of money I would love to give it to them so they could stay at home and there are women that just love to work outside the home and that is great with me and earn lots of respect from me too but.....when do the stay home mothers get the respect and the, "oh, my, how in the world do you do it, you are such a go getter!?!"

I love what I do and I wouldn't give it up for anything. Even though my work goes unnoticed and often unappreciated I love giving my kids kisses constantly throughout the day. I am in control of what goes on in their life, I am their teacher and role model. I love making a home that is clean, I love making a meal that satisfies their tummies. Thinking of fun projects and seeing the fun or the messy outcome is the best. I am creating a wonderful and memorable childhood for them (hopefully). And yea, my job doesn't end, it is day and night. When duty calls, duty calls. There are times when all I want is five minutes to just think about me. Soooo anybody wondering what in the world am I going to do with my time when my kids go to school? (ME) After several years of full on devotion I am going to take time for me and work on my hobbies, things that give me that itch and heck if I get paid for it, even better.... and then I will detail that cluttered cabinet that I never had the chance to when I had little ones around. I will have my home spic and span with an ever so healthy and delicious meal for dinner.... I will also be at my ideal weight because I will have time to work out!!! And not to forget I will spend more time serving others and callings. I have a lot to look forward to and I am so fortunate.... I may not get to add digits to the combined income but I am certainly adding memories.

Note: This post is not meant to offend anyone, I have up days and down days and it feels better to be able to write about it, if I can't be myself then why even have this blog. If I wanted to have a blog to just post pictures of myself and family I would put that in the header, instead I put, "Lani's little journal" and that is just what this thing is for. I am by no means putting down women who work and have a family. I admire, respect, and often look for advice because if anyone has it together its you. Women that work, they are not neglecting their family or that their family suffers. If anything it shows them how amazing the sacrifices their mother has given to them. If anyone knows me well I am not one to judge other women for their choices, I am very much for "Women supporting Women, Mothers supporting Mothers." I am just frustrated because of some of the nasty comments women that stay home get and I am sure its the other way around too, women that choose to stay at home should get respect as well and most people do respect it. So family and friends hang in there with my blue days, I guarantee that i will post more brighter days then blue.

My mom's birthday was December 5Th. I didn't write about it on the day because I went to see her. The best gift I could give her is spending time with her and having her see her grand kids..... right there tells you what a wonderful and amazing mother she is. I haven't spent time with her on her birthday in over four years and I would love to be able to see her for every birthday. I know a lot of daughters have amazing relationships with their moms but I must say that mine is very special. My mom is my best friend, I go to her when I have something happy, sad, memorable, and special to say. I can tell my mother anything and everything without feeling judged or worried that she is going to tell me different. She never nags me or bosses me around, she knows that I will do the right thing and if I mess up she is right there to help. She gives advice when I ask for it and her advice is always very wise and comforting. My mom and I can laugh and laugh, she is so much fun to be around. When you get my sister, mom, and I together it is just a drum roll of laughter and smiles. Some of the many things I am thankful for is that she taught me manners, to be kind to others, look for the positive in life, love for family, how to be a mother, testimony of Heavenly Father,and so much more. I have so much love for her, I hope and dream that my children will have the same relationship with me as I do with my mom. I also am so thankful for the love she has for my children. She is such a wonderful grandmother. She thinks my kids can do no wrong. She wants to shower them with love, gifts, and sweets. She never imposes or tries to take over, she loves the mother I have become and couldn't be more proud, she lets me know that with words and her sweet ways of showing and giving love. So thank you mom for always being there for me and unconditionally loving me and my children. I love you and happy birthday.

But I thought I might mark the special day, even though I don't have pictures to show, I only took video and of course being busy entertaining I didn't get a chance to snap any pics, oh well. I decorated the dining room in birthday galore (now I am really kicking myself for not taking pictures) I made his favorite (and mine) spaghetti and meatballs. OH and don't forget the diary queen cake made with his favorite Reese's peanut butter cup ice cream. It was sooooo good. We had his parents over and it went good. Let me start by saying I am a McCain/Palin fan, and this whole election has been uneasy, nerve racking, and disappointing. I have stayed up to see who is going to run the presidency for the next four years and it wasn't what I was hoping but I am happy that it is over and I truly believe and prayed that the right man for the job would be chosen. McCain gave a very uplifting speech that gave peace to those that feel a lose and encouragement that a brighter future is ahead. This night has been such an important night in history, it is amazing and wonderful to see the variety of people celebrating our next president, it gives me happiness and a feeling of contentment. Even though I am at a loss with my party I will support soon to be President Obama with his leadership and look forward to the changes that can be made.

I have been saved by http://www.flylady.net/ I tried the program a few months after having Ella because I became so unorganized and didn't feel like I accomplished anything around the house, I am a stay at home mom so if the dishes are dirty, laundry piled, then I am failing at my job. So I discovered Fly Lady and it helped me so much in getting organized and starting routines and productive habits. I admit I am a very spontaneous person, I do things for the moment but that doesn't go so well when you have a family that needs stability. I stopped going through the program when we moved from Morenci to Safford, (building a house, finishing school, having another baby) took up my time. Lately though I have been feeling overwhelmed and anxious, it seems that I work hard but nothing gets accomplished. HURRAY for Mondays, I started out fresh and began the program, actually started last night. I put all the dishes in the dishwasher and shined my sink, then I did a 15 minute clean up. This morning I woke up, got dressed head to toe, did my hair and makeup and all the other fun morning stuff. When I finished that job I grabbed a load of dirty clothes and put them in the washer, then I emptied the dishwasher and fixed breakfast!!! Okay after that I managed to clean the toilets and Ella helped swish the swisher to clean the bowel. I feel so good today because I feel like I am getting stuff done and it shows! Also, if I can put a load of laundry in every day (except Sunday) then I will always be caught up with laundry because I stink at being caught up with laundry, don't know why because it is a pretty easy chore that use to be so hard back in the day. Like the Fly Lady says, "Nothing shows you love someone like clean underwear."

I love Halloween! My mom would dress my sister and me up so cute! I remember my mother spending so much time getting us girls ready and being so excited to get candy and see our friends and family. My favorite year was when she dressed me up as a unicorn, I thought it was the coolest costume ever. Halloween has to be one of my favorite times, and it seems that Ella is going to feel the same way. Ever since Monday she has been asking to go get candy and saying "Trick or Treat." The first thing she did when she got home was kick her shoes off and dig into her candy, she probably spent an hour going through it all. I love having my kids because it brings back all the fun memories I had when I was a little girl. I'm already thinking about next year, but next time I want Jered and I to dress up too, I think the kids will get a kick out of it.

It has been eight months since I have had Internet in my home and a lot has happened since then. I graduated with a bachelors, moved into our new home, and welcomed my baby boy, Owen. (It is crazy how disconnected you feel from the world without Internet). Time goes by fast already especially when you accomplish all that in a year! It has been so nice to finally settle down and make a home. Its crazy but it took a good while before I felt comfortable in my home. Now that I have added my touches here and there it feels better, also by starting habits and traditions it makes even more homey.

Celebrating my daughter's second birthday was a lot of fun. Although, I had just gotten over having the stomach flu and the next day setting up for a her birthday was tiring it was so wonderful getting to see her with her friends and loved ones. She turned two February 25, I know it was awhile ago but I keep wanting to write about it. When she turned one I was excited about the day but I was also sad because my little baby girl becomes a toddler and I don't go by months anymore! Don't get me wrong I want her to grow up and it is exciting to see the changes she goes through but it just seems like that first year goes by sooo fast and you will never get it back, the one thing I tried to do though was snap pictures as often as I could, (I have a ton of pictures). So back to the party, we had it at the park because she loves to go and play, her favorite thing is the swing. We had her friends come and it was so adorable. Ella hadn't been to any birthday parties before so she didn't understand blowing candles out and opening presents. We have been working on it and now when she sees a cake she sings, "Happy Birthday," its so cute. I am already thinking about what to do for her third birthday, having kids is the best.

I've always been pretty good about remembering things and multi tasking but the last few months or year has been nothing but forgetfulness. It's a good day when I can remember to leave the house with the keys in my hands. If I don't write what I need on my grocery list then I will never remember to get that item and if I forget to even bring my grocery list then I might as well turn around and go back home. I believe it started as early as my first pregnancy and has ultimately became worse during my second. For my fall semester, in order to stay on top of my school work I wrote everything down in a daily planner but I would forget to look in the planner or write the stuff down. Basically I have a lot on my plate right now, I am pregnant for one, (I read that being pregnant results in some forgetfulness) I am building a house and I like to know exactly what is going on so I am constantly thinking about what needs to be done, when this person is going to work on this, and when is this going to be delivered. I am taking my last two classes, which homework with a toddler is almost unthinkable except when she is sound asleep. Last but most importantly I am a mother and wife, a job that is 24/7, which is physically and mentally demanding. I can't even imagine how I would do all of this if I worked full time like a lot of mothers do nowadays. Dr. Laura, who talks on the radio about marriage and family was talking about a new syndrome in women called, "Tired Woman Syndrome." Us women don't realize the pressure and demands brought on us by everyday life. I believe I am suffering from this syndrome plus memory loss. With having all of this on my plate I just keep going along instead of taking time, like right now, and noticing that I do have a lot do deal with and I am by no means super woman. So for right now, this is to all the women I know, I understand your stress even if it doesn't show or you deny it and everything looks dandy and perfect from afar, if you are anything like me at some time in your life and about ready to pop, scream for relief, I feel your pain. Eventually school will be over, house will be finished, daughter and hubby will thank me with utter appreciation and life will hopefully settle down and I can then worry about how to style my hair, what flowers to plant in the garden, and what joys of everyday life I experience. I just need to stop and understand life goes on and what matters most is that everyday counts and needs to be enjoyed even if the house is a mess, dishes piled up, all the clean clothes are now dirty, and dinner hasn't even entered my mind...........sooo now that I have put this in writing I can go play with my daughter who is getting up from her nap.

A Mother's Love

It is amazing how fast your children grow. Just about two years ago I gave birth to a little baby that was completely dependent on me. She is now a walkin, talkin, toddler with such curiosity and spirit. I remember right after I delivered her she was crying until they placed her in my arms, her crying stopped. That has to be the most rewarding gift, biggest compliment, and most confidence booster in the world. I can still stop her from crying, imagine that. I will be playing with her, putting her shoes on, giving her a snack, or anything, and she will pause and give me a hug and kiss. I re-live that exact moment at the hospital when she does that. Never have a felt so much love. I would give everything, even my life, with no thought to it. I am just so happy to have her. I know the love just grows with time but it seems impossible to love her any more than I do. I look forward to seeing her as a mother and experiencing the love for her little one, the same love I have for her. I can understand how my mother feels.

Great way to journal

I wasn't to sure about blogging. I thought it was just a site for people to post pictures and talk about them, until a friend told me she uses it as a journal and is only for her eyes to see. She says its quite theraputic and rewarding. I have been wanting to journal but in a fancy scrapbooking way, but I hate my handwriting, have no time, and cramp for space. Soooo I am going to give this a try. I am actually really excited. Good luck to myself!
